Phirtse La Shingo La Trek Lahaul

Darcha-Baralacha Pass-Phirtse La (5435m)-Shingo La (5097m) - Darcha - An adventurous multi-pass circular excursion, bordering on being an expedition and  taking 8-9 days.  From Darcha, as for the previous trek; go over Baralacha Pass (4891m), E then N, descending the road to Yunam Lake.  Follow down the W side of the Yunam river to Kilang Sarai camp ground (4609m), a pleasant spot on grassy meadows.  Shortly, the motor road crosses the river; remain on the true left bank.  Follow a good track for 4h parallel to the river, passing Narbutiphung campsite (4460m), then take a prominent left fork (N) to Thoyor (4280m) in the entrance to the big side valley of Lingiti.  Some 12km further along the Lingti River valley reach the Kyonon site where the Kamirup Chu joins the Lingti; a difficult crossing may necessitate going a long way W upstream before getting across.  Higher up the Lingti, cross the N bank at Chumok Marpo Camp Ground (4600m), near the snout of the Phirtse Glacier.  From here ascend to Phirtse La (5435m), the right hand and lower of two passes in the ridge ahead.
