Kayaking & Canoeing Kashmir
A recently introduced Kayaking and Canoeing
tournament in the state of Jammu & Kashmir is another event that will definitely
attract the sports lovers. Organized by the J&K Kayaking and Canoeing
Association in collaboration of the J&K Sports Council and the Departments of
Youth Services and Sports and Tourism, this event takes place in Srinagar and
works as a platform for the popularizing water sports athletics. The winners of
the tournaments are then selected as contestants for the National Kayaking and
Canoeing tournament. The time to raft is either in May/June or in
September/October. Equipment is available with some local agents.
DAY-1- Arrive Delhi
On arrival at Airport you shall be
met by our representative, after meet and greet transfer to Hotel. Stay
overnight at Hotel.
DAY-2- Arrive
Delhi to Srinagar
Early Morning Check out from Hotel
in Delhi - Reach the capital of Kashmir. Srinagar, the summer capital of
Kashmir, stands on Dal Lake and picturesque Jhelum River. The more modern part
of the city is further up the Jhelum River (above its famous seven bridges),
which sweeps through Srinagar. Arrive Srinagar and transfer to Houseboat . And
here they laid, with great love and care, Srinagar's many formal, water-front
gardens, now collectively known as the Mughal Gardens. Afternoon Shikara boat
ride . O/n Houseboat.
DAY-3-
Sightseeing in Srinagar
Sightseeing of the Mughal gardens ,
visiting Nishat Bagh built by Asaf Khan, the brother -in- law of Jehangir in
1632 A.D., and Shalimar Bagh built by Jehangir for his wife empress Nur Jahan.
All the gardens are situated on the banks of the Dal Lake with the Zabarwan
hills in the background. Late afternoon visit Shankaracharya temple perched on
the hilltop with lovely views of the valley & old city. Over Night in the
Houseboat.
DAY-4- Kayaking
& Canoeing in Srinagar
Full day excursion to Sonamarg
(Golden Meadow). The distance of about 83 kms will be covered about 2-½ hrs.
Sonamarg lies in Sindh Valley streamed with flowers and surrounded by mountains.
Sonamarg is also the base for some interesting treks to the high altitude of
Himalayan Lakes. Enjoy horse riding upto Thajwas glacier and sledge riding on
snow. Late afternoon drive back to Srinagar, overnight in Deluxe Houseboats.
DAY-5- Srinagar
to Pahalgam
The fifth day drive to Pahalgam.
The total distance of about 96 km east of Srinagar, at an altitude of 2130m. The
journey from Srinagar to Pahalgam will be covered in about 3 hrs. Drive through
the pine forest. Arrive at Pahalgam (the valley of Shepherds) For the Sighseeing
places - Chandanwari, Baisaran, Sheshnag Lake, Panchtani and transfer to hotel.
After lunch, walk along pony trails with a magnificent view of the mountains.

DAY-6- Pahalgam to
Srinagar-Gulmarg
Morning drive to Gulmarg, Full day
trip to Gulmarg (the meadow of flowers) 2730 meters, above sea level. The
distance of 56 kms will be covered in about 2 ½ hrs.
For the adventure seekers Gulmarg is the ultimate destination for skiing. The
skiing season at Gulmarg is from November to February.
But in the Season of May to September easily can be seen the Valley of Gulmarg.
You may easily hire the skis and sticks, snow boots, woolen socks, mufflers,
windproof jackets, goggles, and caps. With all the equipments and the Ski
instructors at hand it is the best bet to enjoy the holidays at Gulmarg. Enjoy
Gondola or Horse ride in Gulmarg. Stay overnight at Hotel.
DAY-7- Gulmarg
to Srinagar
The next day morning free at
leisure, afternoon drive back to Srinagar. Distance of 60 kms will be covered in
about 2 hrs. On arrival in Srinagar, transfer to Deluxe Houseboats/Hotel for
dinner and overnight stay.
DAY-8- Srinagar to Delhi
After the check out from hotel
transfer to bus stand/airport for onward destination.

Gulmarg & Sonamarg
The large meadow of
Gulmarg is 52 km south-west of Srinagar at 2730 m. The name means
Meadow of Flowers and in spring it's just that. Also once a popular
trekking base, Gulmarg used to be India's premier skiing resort.

Pahalgam
Pahalgam is about
95km east of Srinagar, at an altitude of 2130m. At the junction of
the East and West Lidder rivers, Pahalgam was a popular trekking base
before the present roubles. The Sri Amarnath Yatra (pilgrimage)
endures, however, and each year in July/August thousands of Hindu
pilgrims approach the Amarnath cave from this area.

The pilgrimage
destination of Amarnath shrine is located inside a cave in the
Himalayas. in Kashmir the mythological and historical importance of
this sacred place according to mythology is the fact that lord Shiva
recounted the secret of creation and immortality to the Goddess
Parvati in this cave. This secret is of immortality is known as the
amar katha and according to legend lord Shiva made sure that no living
being was around when he narrated this story to the Goddess Parvati.
Srinagar
Srinagar is the
summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and is the pride of
the beautiful valley of Kashmir. Srinagar is famous for its lakes and
the charming rows of houseboats floating on them. It is also known for
traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits. Srinagar is located
in the western part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, in the northern
region of India.

Sonamarg
Sonamarg is a place
of enthralling beauty. Three lakes viz Kishensar,Vishensar and
Gangabal can be viewed from Nichnai Pass. 20 Kms east of Sonamarg is
Zoji-La Pass at 3540 mtrs which leads into Ladakh Plateau.
