Treks of Kumaon
Most of the trails in Kumaon
are relatively easy, with gradual ascents and descents over rolling hills and
through meadows (Bugials or Kharag). These trails offer breathtaking views of
the high peaks such as Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Trisuli and Hardeol. Eastern
Kumaon has recently been opened to foreign trekkers and the trails are dominated
by the Panchchuli group of peaks.

Wildlife in
Uttaranchal
In Uttaranchal the world-famous
Corbett National Park has a flora and fauna, which is diverse as well as rare.
Uttaranchal has several breath taking destinations for
wildlife tourism. These
are the Rajaji National Park, Govind Pashu Vihar, Asan Barrage, Chilla and
Saptarishi Ashram (Bird Sanctuary), the last four being a delight for bird
watchers.
Uttaranchal, making this state an ideal location for Eco-Tourism. Eco tourism
includes Jungle Safaris, Trekking on forest trails, Nature Walks, catch and
release of Mahaseer and other fish species. However, the utmost priority in all
these activities is given to retaining the ecological fragility of the region.
Trekking Plan
Trekking involves walking uphill and sometimes steeply downhill, 6-7 hours
daily with 10kgs on your back. The period of the trek can vary from 1 day to 30
days, depending on the masochistic tendencies of the people involved. Himalayas
are spectacularly beautiful and can quickly stun the senses into submission. So
trekking amidst the Himalayas is completely mind blowing. Uttaranchal Himalayas
encompasses the major part of Indian Himalayas. Uttaranchal [Garhwal & Kumaon], harbouring many snow covered peaks above 6,500 meters, is an excellent
destination for trekkers. Remained underdeveloped for a long time the area is
still in its primitive form and has vast areas of pure wilderness, holding
different cultures offering a chance to have a close encounter with outstanding
views of greater Himalayan range.
Pilgrimage Char Dham Yatra Himalaya
The
Char dham Yatra or the four pilgrimages are the cardinal compass points
of the Hindu faith. During the April to November season, when the Chardham
Temples are open in the Gharwal Hills, direct buses connect Rishikesh's Yatra
Bus Stand with Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and
Yamunotri.
